Halloween is right around the corner! I’m preparing to decorate our home, and I’m starting projects large and small.

It’s October, y’all!

When visiting the store, there’s one thing I can’t resist: visiting the candy aisle. Far and away, my favorite candy selection is at Walmart. Their long aisles and huge selection make shopping for crowd-pleasing candy a breeze.

We’ve moved to a larger neighborhood with more kids and adults who trick-or-treat with their dog kids so I’m planning to purchase a few large bags of candy that will provide me with a variety, as well as a safety net so we won’t spend Halloween evening running to the store for last minute bags of candy. No one wants to be that house that has to turn the light off early–and hide in the basement!

My family loves to eat candy, so I have to keep a certain amount of candy out. Halloween is a fun time of year, and I like to get creative with the way that I display my candy. One of my favorite things to do is make “mummified heads” and place them on platters surrounded by candy.

Today, I’m going to show you how easy it is to make these fun Halloween crafts!

Head On A {Halloween Candy} Platter

You Will Need:
1 Baking tray
1 Roll of white paper towels
1 Styrafoam head
1 Bottle of glue, or other adhesive
1 Paint brush
2 Cups of water
3+ Tea Bags (used tea bags work perfectly)
Optional: Plastic bugs for an extra scary impact!

Instructions:
1. Fill a bowl with 2 cups of water. Place tea bags in water, allow to soak.

2. Tear off 10-15 paper towels. Carefully dip paper towels in water, and squeeze out excess water. Place tea soaked towels on the baking tray to dry. Note: the towels should be tan so that they look aged when they dry.

3. Allow paper towels time to dry overnight or place them in a warm oven.

4. When paper towels are dry, tear them into strips.

5. Begin painting the foam head with glue, in small sections. Place the dried paper towel strips over the glue, and keep working until your “mummy” is complete.

6. Place mummy on a tray, and surround with candy!
